HULL AND DECKS

The handsome trawler styling of the Classic 45 with its reverse rake windshields, and hint of traditional planking in the hull, gives the boat that classic timeless charm and confident look. Exterior materials were chosen to reduce the maintenance required and to allow more time on the water.  As such, no exterior wood is used at all, with extra heavy 316 stainless steel railings, and even polished 316 stainless steel window frames, so gone are the problems with corrosion on aluminium window frames.

The hull is solid hand-laid fiberglass to provide a strong relatively heavy hull with a low centre of gravity which improves ride both underway and at rest, and eliminates the potential problems with cored hulls. To control osmotic blistering, vinyl ester resins are used in the outer two layers of lamination below the waterline and further protected with two coats of epoxy barrier coat under the antifouling, to make the hull impervious to water migration.

The hull is a hard chine semi-displacement form, which provides great economy at displacement speeds. The full keel design and large rudder protects the running gear, tracks well, and helps maintain good control when docking. Relatively high spray chines and rounded hull form at the bow avoid the problems common with planing boats where chine slap while at anchor can interrupt a peaceful nights sleep.

The fibreglass decks and superstructure are cored with a lightweight impervious synthetic material, reducing weight up top and increasing stability.

UPPER DECK

The spacious upper deck provides seating comfortably for 6-10 people, and the two raised helm seats provide excellent visibility when underway. These are ideal spaces for entertaining in the evening, or to just wile away the hours while the rest of the crew fish and swim, or perhaps some of the crew may want to sleep up here during those balmy summer evenings.

Access to the upper deck is super easy via the molded-in stairs on both sides of the pilothouse, or the stainless steel ladder from the cockpit. The large raised dash includes GPS plotter, thruster controls, and VHF control, with plenty of space for you to add additional navigation equipment, should you require.

The hardtop provides shelter from the sun, as well as a great place for the radar, aerials, satellite TV, solar panels, and other electronics. The boat is pre-prepped to add an electric davits on the upper deck if required, however the swim platform also makes a great place to store the dinghy.

FOREDECK

Anchoring is managed by a powerful Maxwell vertical windlasses with stainless steel foot controls coupled to a 30kg stainless steel Maxwell Maxset anchor with 80m of 10mm Italian G4 galvanized chain and 70m of 16mm 8-strand nylon rode. This sturdy anchoring package will allow you to sleep easily under any conditions around our coastline, while having sufficient rode for those deeper anchorages or for fishing. The split chain locker allows for chain storage on one side and provides space for the second anchor, fender and line storage, as well as the washdown hoses, on the other.

Access to the foredeck from the pilothouse is quick and easy through sliding doors on each side of the pilothouse or from the upper deck via the molded-in stairs on each side. Extra tall heavy duty 38mm type 316 stainless steel handrails provide secure holding while working up forward and are bolted to aluminium backing plates for optimum strength.  Naturally courtesy lights on the foredeck and side steps are provided for night time security.

A molded-in seat on the cabin roof makes an excellent place to soak up the sun, and enjoy our wonderful coastline.

COCKPIT AND SWIMPLATFORM

The fully covered cockpit of the Classic 45 makes an ideal place to fish or BBQ while staying out of the sun and the full protection allows the sliding cabin door to remain open during inclement weather to aid ventilation in the cabin. Gates in both sides of the hull make access to marinas and docks easier, while the transom door is ideal for those who prefer to back into their marina, and for access to the swim platform.

The extra large swim platform has double fold-down stainless steel rails, making for a flexible platform for enjoying the water around our coast. Boarding is easy when you have been ashore, and the standard stainless steel ladder makes getting on board easy after your evening swim. Set up your deck chairs and enjoy a glass of wine as the kids swim and the sun sets.
